“Is this the real life?” It all feels surreal at the moment. It has barely been 100 earth hours since Shepard’s squad helped me and Nyrek and I find out I have been granted a commendation of valor, despite my rather minimal efforts to assist the Normandy squad.
Amidst the battle for survival against the Reapers, the commendation makes me question “Is this a fantasy?” With entire races caught in a landslide to defend the galaxy, and there being no escape from this horrendous reality, I couldn’t give myself too much time to mull over the details.
A brief close of the eyes and one deep breath is all the time I could afford to think of all sacrifices made along the way. As I opened my eyes and looked up to the (Reaper-filled) skies now, the grimness of the situation suddenly descended upon me – the nightmare must be ended. My time has come, and it sends shivers down my spine.
For now, the situation is simple. Cyone is once again under attack from Reaper forces. There is no time to wait for Shepard to come and save us. Here I am in the shuttle with my trusted ally, Nyrek (although I wish I could spare him his life from this monstrosity), heading back to Cyone. There is no point in thinking "I’m just a poor girl" for I need no sympathy. Do the Reapers think they can stop me and spit in my eye? I am as tough as they come, as tough as they go. Moments like these make heroes!
